Too Messed Up? Think Again.

What do you do when you think you are too messed up to do much of anything, that it is better to stop trying?
I think these thoughts are everyone’s personal thoughts at times. Doubts trickle in, one by one; other times, doubts rush in like a flashflood, drowning all confidence.
What does God think of our thoughts? He knows them and loves us despite what we think and feel. We can talk to him about whatever we feel is “too messed up” and we are guaranteed that he understands the true problem. Knowing all, he certainly knows us. Loving completely, he welcomes us, anytime with any thought, to come running to him.
When you or I think we’re “too messed up”, let’s look to God’s thoughts of compassion, grace, and true help in the verses below. We are never too messed up for our wonderful God.
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.” – Psalm 139:1-2 (NIV)
“…Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity” – Joel 2:13b (NIV)
We are never too messed up for our wonderful God.

it is certainly comforting that I don’t have to explain “my side of the story” to our Lord. He already knows the circumstances and especially my intent. No character references needed! As I was just reading this on a break from a very complicated phone call I was reminded that I just jumped into the day without prayer. Did the Bible reading and then got distracted. Thank you Lord for your reminders, even the chastening ones.
