A Word of Encouragement Today

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” – Psalm 118:1 (NIV)

Listen to the voices from that phone, computer, TV…. Wow. With the Middle East Crisis and being stuck at home with a cold, I have been glued to those screens. Not very encouraging.

While we must gather information to gain understanding, we must not lose our cool or our gratitude. I read from Psalm 118 this morning and was encouraged. David writes of his crisis when his enemies nearly overwhelmed him. Even though he is honest about what happened, he begins and ends this chapter with thanks to God. Hmmm….

I saw little to no gratitude to God on the various screens I viewed this week, and I have not counted my blessings, either.

Yes, we should be quite concerned about recent events…but we should be quite thankful to God. Think about it…if He gave the world what we deserved, all would have been lost a long time ago. His love and grace are bigger than the sins of the world, which are HUGE. Much to be thankful for right there. That He is presently giving time for people to repent shows how great He is, how great His love is, and how thankful I should be.

The world may be falling apart, but God seeks to bring us together with Him. We can and should rescue those held hostage by evil men; however, let’s stop to give thanks to the God Who has been rescuing souls held hostage by sins, for thousands of years.
